Automated Collection: g-COL
Principle
g-MIR is a “real-time” search engine in the sense that it makes it possible to build interactive applications in which the answers to a question are received instantaneously. Even though the request may be made by a user in an unspecified form it is read by a program which will have memorised it.
To include the execution of a request in a program is not always enough however to automate the execution of it in a fully optimised way. This is why we designed g-COL which is at the heart of our application AMI Collect.
g-COL allows:
· Programmed execution of requests at regular intervals
· The de-duplication of information
· Treatment of the “already-seen” results allowing the user to receive only the new results.
Maximising the functionality of g-COL also requires the use of g-MIR.
Applications
Web Monitoring
Connected to online information sources, g-COL allows the user to monitor and detect, in real time, any modification or update to a source. The application makes it possible to create alerts when a page is modified or updated and find new pages dealing with a particular subject.
Push
g-COL can be integrated into an Intranet or Portal allowing users to “memorise” within the system the terms of a particular information request and then be informed of any innovation on the subject, whatever the frequency with which new innovations may occur. Offering such functionality with AMI™ does not require expensive or time consuming changes to the site or additional applications to manage it.
